Welcome to the summer lecture and workshop series with master percussionist, dancer, and instructor Roberto Borrell!

Roberto is coming to Woodland to share his wealth of knowledge through lectures and workshops. All levels of knowledge and dance skill are welcome for attendees.

2:00-3:00

How Chachachá Influenced Rock n Roll

A lecture on how the rhythms of chachachá music influenced rock n roll and modern genres of music, in ways that we don’t even realize. Great for non-dancers and dancers alike!
 

 

3:15-4:15

Hearing Son & Guaguancó Rhythms in Timba

A lecture/dance blend on listening to timba and learning how to determine the historical musical rhythms in modern music. This will involve some movement, but accessible for any dance skill level.

 

4:30-5:30

Basics of Chachachá

A dance workshop that covers the basic steps and body movements for the dance, as well as how to hear the “cha cha cha” in the rhythm of the song. Accessible for any skill level.

$30 for one workshop

$50 for a two workshop bundle
